Artist statement:
Relating to the Immediate Surroundings of Something examines the nature of musical performance and it’s relationship with the space surrounding it. Taking the word ambient as a starting point - the title is the dictionary definition of the word – it uses this as impetus to rearrange the paradigms of performance. Relating to… featured a unique performance each morning of the Festival, which was then captured in an extended, 5-hour reverberation that echoed throughout the concert hall throughout the day.
